Engagement looks good on her. Selena Gomez, who recently said “yes!” to producer Benny Blanco's proposal, is bringing two unexpected trends with her into 2025: the side-parted bob and a marquise diamond ring.
Fresh off celebrating Hanukkah with Blanco (and Debra Messing), Gomez showed off a deep side part while sipping a cocktail at the The Carlyle, letting her lob fall effortlessly around her shoulders. At long last, has the reign of the middle part begun to wane?
In another Instagram Story, Gomez cuddled up to Blanco in bed, flashing the sparkling diamond ring that made a million fans entirely re-design their “dream engagement” Pinterest boards.
In case you were wondering, yes, that is a marquise cut, just like the diamond she references in the lyrics to her 2015 song “Good For You.”
“I'm on my 14 carats, I'm 14 carat,” the song begins, and in a later verse, she sings, “I'm on my marquise diamonds, I'm a marquise diamond, Could even make that Tiffany jealous.” Clearly, she's been manifesting this specific ring for years.

In a recent interview with Page Six, the ring's designers Katherine Theofilos Claster and Stephanie Theofilos revealed that Blanco intentionally reference to the song and other symbols of their love while customizing the ring for Selena Gomez.
“Benny, a wonderful creative himself, had specific inspiration, including the center cut, the marquise,” Theofilos Claster said, adding, “For this project, Benny was immediately drawn to the stone he ultimately chose. Much like love, in a room full of people, you are drawn to your soulmate.”
So thoughtful and specific! As one commenter wrote on Blanco's post about the engagement, “We love a man that takes notes 💅✨.” We do.
It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
