National Dress up your Pet Day

There are two kinds of pets – those who like getting dressed up and those who really will not tolerate it. Mine are the latter.
So, just to play along, I followed the suggestion of looking old man Wart in the eyes and determining what he would like to wear today if he HAD TO dress up. I got a completely blank stare and the only message that came through was, “Now what are you up to?”

So, he got a reprieve. He munched some food and sauntered off for a nap.
The photo you see here is purely fictional and definitely not sanctioned by any living beings in this household other than me. But I had fun. Better than work, right?

Definitely better than work. I like his fictional cap – very cute!

  2. I am a pet that does NOT like to be dressed up either so I am glad Wart got a reprieve. Though I will say he would look smashing in that baseball cap!

When you put a jacket on Clover, she stands completely still – like it’s a straight jacket! Can’t say she’s a fan of dog dress ups, either.

    • Hi Tegan! That reminds me. I once had a cat and I knit a sweater for her. I put it on and she just feel over. It was pretty funny – or it was her way of saying, “No way!”

  4. Photoshop is the favorite software of clothes-hating pets everywhere. No animal needs to ever suffer through dressing again. :)

Honey doesn’t even like wearing a neckerchief. Good thing I don’t feel the need to dress my little nudist.

I wouldn’t even let my human see this blog post until it got too dark for photos. Just in case.

  6. We don’t dress up our pets either, although there are some days when I’m tempted to give it a try. I like the cap!

    • Hi Karen and Gerard – I always hoped I would find a kitty that like to get dressed up. But Scooter, our newest addition had fits just over a collar. So…that was that!

  7. Marg says:

I do think that some cats kind of enjoy the fun of being dressed up. Two Two sometimes will let me do it to her when she is desperate for attention. It takes a few minutes to convince her but then she thinks it all right. I think you have to start them young. Mahoney would rather die that wear something.

    • Hi Marg, I had a cat when I was very young and he liked clothes – even girl clothes. I always assumed one could dress up a cat. Not so! I doesn’t help, either, that the cat dad thinks it is cruel and inhumane. I disagree, but it isn’t worth the argument. Wart and Scooter side with him anyway.

So glad Mom didn’t know about this day in advance to purchase outfits.
