Boll & Branch Linen Sheet Set
It may sound hyperbolic, but this linen set was quite life-changing! I first tried them out in the sweltering heat of a New York summer, right at the same time my air conditioner broke. I wasn’t sure what to expect, and whether I’d overheat with the sheets and just a small fan, but they were surprisingly cool, and no sweating occurred, which is more than I can say for my normal cotton sheets. And as the weather shifted to fall, they’ve continued to perform. The quality is phenomenal, the colors are really elevated, and the sheets feel more comfortable with each wash. —Natasha Pearlman, executive editor

Helight Sleep Red-Light Sleep Device
I’ve hit a period of really finding it hard to fall asleep, so I was eager to try the Helight Sleep light. The little puck-shaped device sits on a nightstand and emits pure red light that passes through your eyelids to activate a biological response that helps you relax. For 14 minutes, it shines the full 630 nanometers of red light, then fades out over the next 14 minutes, mimicking a sunset as the light gets warmer in tone and diminishes. Plus, it counteracts the blue light of a phone or computer. It can take a few days for your body to start reacting; the brand suggests a steady 21-night trial run. The first night, I was trying so hard to observe the effect that I couldn’t fall asleep, but the second night, I could feel myself sliding down. I especially like to turn it on when I’m having trouble falling back asleep after a middle-of-the-night potty run. It’s so easy to pack that I took it with my on a trip to make a speech at my alma mater; I knew I’d find it hard to get to sleep the night before, so I plopped it on the nightstand. —Talley Sue Hohlfeld, copy director
