What about the dogs who ate knives and other sharp stuff, but thank goodness they were OK, that is just mind-boggling. I just can’t begin to imagine how they ate that stuff.

Hi Rebecca – It gives me the chills to think what they can swallow. I guess there is not point in wondering why they did it, though. Like you, I am happy for those who are treated and become OK. – Fisher

Eating something like those lovely items usually would mean surgery I would think. I think the ducky is the funniest. I can’t imagine a dog swallowing a whole ducky toy. But that is a bunch of junk in those stomachs.

That’s really mind-boggling. Cats like to swallow random things too, so I always keep an eye on them. They are not very good at spitting. The other day Shadow had a squabble with Jackie. He accidentally bit off a small pinch of fur with his mouth. Instead of spitting it out, he was shaking his head, trying to get it out, but ended up swallowing it.

Thanks for your comments everyone. It might be a good idea to follow Love Meow’s comment and find a similar report (with pics) of the strange things cats might ingest. I am not sure my own stomach is strong enough to learn about cats doing such things.

  5. We’d hate to see what was inside our dog Angel (dumber). She’s eaten everything from magazines to pieces of the biped’s quilts.

Wow, those are some really weird things to eat. We;re glad those doggies recovered.

  7. Dr Ferox says:

The daft things I’ve seen cats swallow have mostly been needles (on tempting pieces of thread), parts of broken toys, rubber bands, hair ties and the handles off plastic shopping bags.

Thank you for the information, Dr. Ferox. I am sure cat people will like to know about this. They tend to think we cats are pretty perfect.
