Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day - yesterday - and I had the computer to myself. I snooped on the net after the Woman’s son came and whisked her away to the beach for the day. Picnic lunch, two granddaughters, and the Man in tow, all were off for a fun-filled day.

Older and wiser FisherBut, back to my snooping…. I read a great story about Macavity the Bus Cat, and it made me think about how I, too, took an adventurous trip oh so many years ago - I was only about one month old. It was the day I said “good-bye” to my own mother. I don’t think I had that intention at all. But, on a very very cold day in Colorado, I left the bushes where me and Mom and litter mates made our home, and sought warmth near the motor of a car. I guess I was always a master napper, because while I slept, someone got into the car and started it up. My new life had just begun. I found out later that I traveled in that car for 20 miles. Well, I have to tell you, I was wide awake when the car stopped! For the next five hours, I kept pretty quiet, trying to figure out what to do next. Then, of course, hunger took over and I began to cry out. That’s when the Woman heard me and started to frantically search the parking lot to find me. She did, and I have been warm and well taken care of ever since. I couldn’t help wondering, though, about my own Mom on Mother’s Day.

And what about Macavity? He is older and wiser than I was when I took my trip. This guy gets on a bus! And, he gets off again! Fortunately he found the right driver - who has to be a really neat guy who appreciates the wisdom of a cat that will take a bus to the shops and dining, have a nice day, and then take the bus back home. Amazing what some of us can do when we really know what we want! It’s a great read…

Mystery cat takes regular bus to the shops

My advice for today: First of all, never never ever climb up under the hood of a car to get warm. It is very dangerous. Secondly, good and honorable intentions lead to interesting and happy conclusions.
