here’s a lot of nasty news going on out there, so I decided to cheer myself up. I have been thinking about my friend Nora and wondering how things are going for her. For giggles and grins, I googled Nora the piano playing cat.
I’m happy now! Give it a try for a real day brightener! This is one site of many:
I am all read
y to start a new week now. Last week I got a little preoccupied with a very special guest in our house. Mandy, a beautiful Australian Sheppard came to visit. My first overnight guest since moving to Florida! We had a great time trying to figure out how to form our friendship.Little brother Wart was less convinced that cats and dogs really can be great friends. The first day and a half, Wart’s eyes were so big and round we all thought he would have to take eyedrops if he didn’t blink once in awhile. Mandy was so polite and gentle and showed a lot of respect to us cats. Wart wasn’t buying it, so I gave him a demonstration. As I walked across the floor, Mandy decided to follow me. I purposely walked slow so she could get near. Then, I just calmly turned around and we stood face to face. After a brief moment of non-verbal communication, Mandy realized I did not want to be tailed - I was on a path and didn’t want to be deterred. She turned around and walked the other way and we ended up in different corners and both settled into a nice nap. So easy!
By the end of day 2, Wart’s dilemma heightened. It was time for his tuna snack and he had to face his fears or miss his treat. Hmmm…what to do? He had a plan, I know, because nothing ever comes between him and his tuna.
We found out that Wart could easily leave the cupboard where he sought refuge, jump to counter, then to the top of the refrigerator to survey the situation and form the rest of his strategy. From there…down onto the desk and up to the long windowsill where he could walk across the whole length of the livingroom and jump to the table where his food bowl was. At no time did his feet touch the floor! We were all amazed, Wart was quite proud of himself, and I am not so sure Mandy didn’t think that being a cat could be pretty awesome.
My advice for today: You don’t have to immerse yourself into your fears in order to face them. Keep your mind on the end result and enjoy your tuna.
After a 3 day spree of Indy Car Racing in downtown St Petersburg, I have endulged in a very long nap! I live downtown. Day
one at 8:07 AM the cars started to hum - very exciting. Day 2 - same time, same noise - hmmmm. Day 3 and now I need some sleep! Imagine a whole flock of bees buzzing around for days. This is a big event around here. My humans dedicate the whole weekend to it. I wasn’t real thrilled, though, when they watched the American LeMans race at the racetrack, and then came home to watch the whole thing again on TV. Think they’re hooked on racing?
I’m caught up on my napping now, and looking back on the races it is most apparent that through it all they were watching me and little brother Wart to make sure we were ok. I know in my heart of hearts that if they thought we were uncomfortable with the noise, we would have spent the weekend in a kitty condo somewhere quiet. Me and Wart might just come up with a new plan for next year.
Speaking of naps and condos - the apartment filling up with empty boxes. We are moving! Every time the Woman mentions the word “condo”, she adds a trailer to it…”Fisher, you are going to love it!” There is much bustling around. I am sticking close to my couch - that goes with me! I’m thinking that sometimes the more things stay the same, the more they change.
My advice for today: Have great naps, but not too long - when it is over, you may have a lot of catching up to do!
